You will start off with what is called a bankroll. The bankroll consists of the player’s total betting cash. This can of course be a high or low amount depending on what level of bet you would like to make. If you do have a large bankroll but wish to make a smaller bet when playing craps, you can divide your bankroll into smaller sums. When you bet numbers across, you place a group of five bets on all the place numbers other than the point number that the shooter is throwing for.

Chop is a term that simply refers to the action of the dice. This includes the win-lose action that occurs during shooting. Also, if the player rolls a two, a three, or a 12, the roll is called craps –just as the game is called. Another term is high/low. This is a type of bet you can make where you place a wager on both the two and the 12. The payoff of winning this bet is an impressive 30 to one.

There are many remaining terms that you will become more familiar with as you learn and progress in the game. Eventually, these terms will become part of your overall vocabulary when gambling, so you won’t even have to think about them.
